After that decision, everything changed.
We moved into a small rental home. It wasn’t luxurious, and it certainly wasn’t what my mother had imagined for me. But it was peaceful, and most importantly, it was ours.
Life wasn’t always easy, but it was stable.
We worked hard. We paid our bills on time. There was always food on the table. And the house was filled with a quiet kind of happiness that money can’t buy.
Anna never complained about anything. She carried her responsibilities with quiet strength and dignity.
Over time, her son and I grew closer.
At first, I was simply someone who helped around the house. Then I became someone he trusted.
And one day, without warning, he looked at me and said:
“Dad.”
That single word changed everything.
It wasn’t something I expected, but it was something I embraced fully. From that moment on, I wasn’t just building a life—I was building a family.
