Breakfast sausage, crumbled
Unsalted butter
All-purpose flour
Whole milk

Black pepper

Instructions
Bake the biscuits according to the package or recipe directions until golden and fluffy.
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage, breaking it apart, until fully browned. Do not drain the fat. Add butter if needed, then sprinkle in the flour and stir well, cooking for about 1 minute to eliminate the raw flour taste.
Slowly pour in the milk while stirring constantly. Continue cooking until the gravy thickens and becomes rich and creamy. Season generously with salt and black pepper, adding red pepper flakes if you like a little heat.
Split the warm biscuits in half, place them on a plate, and spoon the hot sausage gravy generously over the top. Serve immediately while warm and comforting.
