Barron is too tall to enlist
In fact, Dr. Larry Braunstein, a podiatrist who practiced in Queens and passed away in 2007, diagnosed President Trump with bone spurs as a favor to his father, Fred Trump, helping him dodge the military draft.
Dr. Elysa Braunstein and Sharon Kessel, the late doctor’s daughters, revealed to the New York Times that he frequently recounted the story.
“It was family lore,” Elysa Braunstein told the Times, noting that the story was “something we would always discuss” among family and friends.
According to records obtained by the Times, Dr. Braunstein leased his office in Jamaica, Queens, from Fred Trump during the 1960s.
His two daughters informed the publication that their father issued the bone spurs diagnosis as a favor to the elder Trump.
“I know it was a favor,” Elysa Braunstein told the Times, adding that the “small favor” provided her father with “access” to Fred Trump.
Prior to this medical exemption, Trump had deferred military service four times whilst completing his education. In a 2016 interview with The Times, Trump revealed that a doctor “gave me a letter – a very strong letter – on the heels” to present to draft authorities.
Yet, in the same conversation, Trump couldn’t recall the doctor’s name.
Heel spurs are bony protrusions caused by calcium buildup on the heel bone. They can be managed through stretching exercises, orthotics, or even surgery.
The president affirmed he never had surgery for this condition.
This revelation follows his attempt to conceal red scabs on his neck during an undisclosed medical treatment.
