Michael walked straight into the water.
Like he was being called.
Like he belonged there.
“No…” I whispered, shaking my head.
“This can’t be real…”
The woman slowly raised her head.
And for a second—
I saw her face.
My heart stopped.
It looked like…
Me.
Exactly like me.
Same eyes.
Same nose.
Same lips.
But her smile—
Her smile was wrong.
Too wide.
Too empty.
Michael stood in front of her.
Silent.
Still.
Like he was under a spell.
Then—
She reached out.
And touched his face.
Gently.
Lovingly.
Like a wife would.
Tears filled my eyes.
“What is this…?” I whispered.
The woman spoke.
Her voice echoed strangely across the water.
“You came late tonight…”
Michael didn’t respond.
He just stared at her.
Lost.
Completely lost.
Then slowly—
He removed his shirt.
Stepped deeper into the river.
And disappeared into her arms.
I covered my mouth to stop myself from screaming again.
My whole body was shaking violently.
“This is not my husband… this is not my husband…” I kept repeating.
Suddenly—
The woman’s head snapped toward my direction.
My heart dropped.
She saw me.
I was sure of it.
Even from that distance—
I could feel her eyes on me.
Dark.
Hungry.
Then—
She smiled.
And pointed at me.
“Bring her,” she said.
My blood froze.
Michael turned.
Slowly.
And began walking out of the river.
Toward me.
His eyes—
Were no longer his.
“Vanessa…” he called.
But that voice…
That voice didn’t belong to my husband anymore.
And at that moment—
I realized the truth.
Michael was not cheating on me.
He was being claimed.
