At 69, I went on vacation alone and fell in love with a 72-year-old man. For seven days I felt like the happiest woman in the world. But our last night I heard a woman say, “You can’t fool her anymore. He's coming home tomorrow and you still don't know how you're going to get rid of her."

The last night of my vacation, David invited me to a beautiful restaurant facing the sea.

“Mary, I have to tell you something very important tonight.

I thought maybe I was going to propose to continue our relationship after the holidays.

But, during dinner, his phone rang.

David’s expression changed immediately.

“I’m sorry. I need to go out for a few minutes.

He walked away.

It was fifteen minutes.

I started worrying.

Finally, I decided to go get it.

In the courtyard behind the restaurant, I heard his voice.

David was talking to a woman.

“Have you told him everything yet?” she asked.

"No.

David, he returns to the United States tomorrow. You can't keep fooling her like this!

Me quedé paralizada.
