I’m 49 years old. My mother, Linda, is 78, and my father, Robert, is 82.

They have been married for 54 years.

Ever since I was a child, I’ve remembered how caring my father was toward my mother. Every morning, he made her coffee, and every evening, he never went to bed until she was by his side.

But over the past six months, something had changed.

My mother had started calling me less and less often.

Before, we talked almost every day. But lately, whenever I called, it was usually my father who answered.
