Part 2: My millionaire husband left me nothing in his will after 48 years of marriage except a note with an address — when I arrived there, what I saw made me fall to my knees.

But he hadn't.

And I wasn't sure that wanting counted for much anymore.

Julian looked at me.

“There's a page you should read.”

He turned toward the back.

A date.

Three weeks before Thomas died.

Beneath it, in shaky handwriting:

Raymond found out about Julian.

My stomach tightened.

I kept reading.

He knows why I signed the certificate.

I stopped breathing.

Why I signed the certificate.

Not how Julian was born.

Not the affair.

Why he'd signed it.

I looked at Julian.

“What does this mean?”

He shook his head.

“I was hoping you knew.”

Then my phone rang.

Evelyn Price.

I answered immediately.

“Margaret, where are you?”

“I'm with Julian.”

Her voice became urgent.

“Listen carefully. Raymond has filed an emergency petition challenging parts of the trust.”

My heart dropped.

“On what grounds?”

“He claims Thomas was pressured into making it and that certain supporting documents were concealed.”

I looked at Julian.
