But two months ago something strange began to happen that, at first, I considered simple normal childhood pains.
Every Sunday, when they returned home, my daughters complained of pain in their lower back.
At first, only Lily was crying. Afterwards, Emily also began to have difficulty lying down and getting up.
Every time I asked them what had happened, they both gave me the same answer.
“Grandpa embraces us too tight.”
One Sunday I witnessed one of those hugs.
My father pressed the two girls against his chest.
“Grandpa, let us go! It hurts!” cried Lily.
My father laughed.
“My little princesses, that’s how I show them how much I love them.”
My mother smiled, too.
“Be strong, girls. Grandpa loves them very much.”
But at that moment I noticed something strange.
Emily looked at her grandmother as if she was afraid of something.
My mother made a little gesture with her head and my daughter kept quiet immediately.
