Part 2: My millionaire husband left me nothing in his will after 48 years of marriage except a note with an address — when I arrived there, what I saw made me fall to my knees.

"From whom?"

Raymond hesitated.

"Outsiders."

I felt something inside me harden.

"Nathan is Thomas's son."

Raymond's face darkened.

"An illegitimate son."

I stared at him.

"And what does that make you?"

He blinked.

"Excuse me?"

"Someone who has spent years waiting for his cousin to die so you could claim his money?"

Elaine gasped.

Raymond's face turned red.

"You ungrateful woman."

I walked to the front door.

"Leave."

He followed me.

"You'll regret this."

I opened the door.

"Then I'll regret it in my own house."

For a moment, I thought he might refuse.

Instead, he snatched his folder from the table.

At the threshold, he turned.

"Thomas kept secrets from you, Margaret. More than one."

Then he stepped into the rain.

Elaine hurried after him.

I locked the door.

And for the first time since Thomas died, I didn't feel helpless.

I felt angry.

That evening, I spread the contents of the leather folder across the dining room table.
