Part 2: My millionaire husband left me nothing in his will after 48 years of marriage except a note with an address — when I arrived there, what I saw made me fall to my knees.

Thomas had always kept that key on his ring.

But after his death, it had been missing.

"Your husband gave me this that night," Nathan whispered.

I stared at him.

"Why?"

Nathan's eyes filled with tears.

"Because he knew something was going to happen."

I couldn't breathe.

"What was going to happen?"

Nathan looked toward Thomas's photograph.

Then back at me.

"He believed someone was trying to kill him."

The room went silent.

My heart hammered against my ribs.

"Who?"

Nathan swallowed.

"He wouldn't tell me. He said he needed one more piece of evidence."

I gripped the edge of the table.

"Did he find it?"

Nathan nodded.

"I think so."

He unlocked his phone and showed me a photograph of a sealed envelope.

Across the front, in Thomas's handwriting, were the words:

**FOR MARGARET — ONLY IF MY DEATH IS NOT NATURAL.**

I stared at the screen.

"Where is it?"
